We are delighted you are interested in celebrating your wedding at the FUMC of Portsmouth. We have been serving the Portsmouth community for many years through worship, service and outreach.   Our beautiful iconic red doors, stone façade and sanctuary with vaulted beamed ceilings is a beautiful location and backdrop for your special day.  We have a large parking lot with nearby parking access for over flow and easy access to downtown Portsmouth venues.

In keeping with our commitment as a reconciling congregation social justice and inclusivity, the FUMC of Portsmouth recognizes the equal rights of all people, including the legal right for individuals to marry the person of their choice.

PLANNING THE CEREMONY

A wedding at FUMC is first and foremost a service of worship, celebrating the presence and asking the blessing of God. While the Church most often works with couples who seek a Christian service of marriage, we anticipate that all couples will work closely with our Pastor and meet with her for premarital counseling and planning your unique service. Wedding services may be jointly officiated by the FUMC Pastor and another member of the clergy in good standing.

MUSIC

In keeping with the musical tradition of FUMC and the special occasion, organ or piano music for the wedding would be typically provided by the FUMC organist/vocalists.  Musical selections are customarily of religious/classical nature and discussed with the Minister of Music.

REHEARSAL

A rehearsal is a must have and is usually scheduled on the evening prior to the wedding. Those getting married, their families, and the wedding party should be present. Be certain that all participants are aware of the time the rehearsal will begin. Plan for no more than one hour for the rehearsal.

CHURCH FEES:

Church Sanctuary – $500 (includes room use and Sexton fee)

Pastor – $350

Organist – $350

Sound Technician – $150 [3 hr minimum $50 per hour thereafter]

Worship Tech – $100

Solist – $100

(includes 3 hours total for both the rehearsal and the service).  $50 per hour after the 3 hours for the above hired persons

Sanborn Hall – $500 (this includes sexton fee)

Kitchen use – includes 3 hrs of use with Sanborn Hall rental,  $50 per hour thereafter.  Person and/or group using kitchen to prepare food for consumption on or off the premises, and/or sale on/off FUMC property must provide a copy of valid NH and/or Portsmouth food  preparation permit, if required with an accompanying copy of government-issued photo ID ie driver’s license]
