New Hampshire political icon and FUMC member Ruth Griffin was honored Thursday as officials named the new Dover-Newington bridge after her June 2018. Griffin, 92, a Portsmouth Republican, served more than 40 years as a state representative, state senator and executive council member. Governor Sununu led a ceremony in Newington Thursday morning.
The bridge, formerly the Little Bay Bridge, marks the start of the Spaulding Turnpike from Newington to Dover.
