Rev. Deb’s Welcome Note

It is my privilege to be appointed to the First United Methodist Church as the pastor beginning July 1, 2018.  I’d like to share a little background on myself.

I was born and raised in Iowa and moved to the east coast after graduating from college. I have a BA in music education, MM in choral conducting and performance (voice), Master of Divinity, and Doctor of Ministry. As you can see I have been studying many years!  My true love has been answering my call to serve God as a minister for 26 years. I retired in 2017; however, after a year of participating as a parishioner in a church near us, I once again heard God’s call to serve as a pastor.

First United Methodist Church is a reconciling congregation who welcomes everyone regardless of their sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, age, or gender. This is a place where people can find the presence of God in the midst of worship, Sunday school, church events, outreach or nurture activities.

All are welcome to join us for Sunday worship services at 10:00 am, and bring the children!  We have an active and growing Sunday school that studies stories from the Bible and is involved in our community of faith in a variety of ways.  Or join us for some of our community outreach events, which you can find in our monthly newsletters.  We are called to be a team in mission and ministry, offering the love of God to each other and the world.

Friendliness is part of our hospitality, and we see ourselves as a large family where there is always room for more.  Come and join us some time, and if you have any questions, please let us know.  Our contact information is also in our newsletter called The Beacon, copies of which can be found here under the “Welcome” tab. Thank you for connecting with us!

God bless! Rev. Deb
