Seacoast Family Promise
We have been a part of this extraordinary program for the last 10 years. We partner with other churches in the area to offer food and housing to families in need. Over the course of the 10 years, this program has served 170 families, with a total of 641 children. The statistics show that this program not only provides a temporary solution to their homeless problem, but it also changes lives in the long term. 86% of the families that have come through the program have maintained stable housing since they left the program. Families stay in our church approximately 1 week every 6-8 weeks. Temple Israel partners with us to feed and support those families when they are in our church.
Backpack Ministry – “End 68 hours of Hunger”
Throughout the school year, bags of food are provided every Friday to those children in need, to feed them and their families through the weekend. In June 2014 we completed our 4th school year of providing food to the children in the Portsmouth schools. This year we provided a total of 3,263 bags of food, which totals to 25,742 meals. The community of Portsmouth, as well as this congregation, have and continue to be supportive of this program. We appreciate the financial generosity of many local community groups such as Seacoast Rotary, Provident Bank, Rotary Club of Portsmouth, and the Service Credit Union , as well as many individuals.
Members of the church visit those who are unable to get out. New additions are always welcome and appreciated. Come make someone’s day!!
